Social Justice is something that lies at the heart of our school. This focus is handed onto our community through the virtues of our St Mary MacKillop and seen through the works of the Sisters of Saint Joseph (founders of MSJ). With #msjSocialJustice in mind, we have an initiative we are calling ‘Scrunchies for Social Justice’. The idea was originally sparked through our previous School Captain Joelle Sassine and is now being carried on. All proceeds go towards helping a social justice cause. The first one we are supporting is West Papua. The situation in West Papua is tragic and people are in desperate need of help. Sr Susan Connolly came and spoke about West Papua last year. The scrunchies are a great way to accessories your hair whilst still following the MSJ Uniform protocols. They are currently being sold at STUDENT SERVICES for $3. We are selling school uniform scrunchies (both for the summer and winter uniform). The scrunchies have been made by using uniform fabric (we love a good eco-up-cycle). These have been mostly made by some incredible parents, as well as some staff and students. Thanks to Sr Jane for the amazing posters!
